History Panel in Media Library

I am using V5.35 on Vista 64 Home Premium.

My usage "history" sub-screen in Media Library is not showing any history.

Have tried un-installing/ re-installing but no joy.

Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Media Library > History

Make sure the relevant options are checkmarked there.

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

Thank you siebe83.

ALL the relevant options are selected, STILL no joy.

Any other suggestions? Is it possible to direct access 'history' file or registry or location where details are stored to see whether there is some type of corruption?

The contents of the History view are saved to recent.dat and recent.idx, in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\Plugins\ml

Do you mean to say that if you play a file it is not added to the list in History, or that the History view is empty again after a Winamp restart?

If no luck, please post a my_plugins_list.

Many thanks for help.

Both recent.dat and recent.idx files exist where stated.

Do you mean to say that if you play a file it is not added to the list in History, or that the History view is empty again after a Winamp restart?

Yes to BOTH questions.

The 'Plug In' Listing is below

Mmh...

In your plugins list it says:
Winamp.ini path is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\Winamp.ini

If I'm correct, that means that Winamp attempts to store settings in the install dir in Program Files (which won't work on Vista).

I had expected it to say:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\Winamp.ini

Do you have a paths.ini file in the Winamp installation folder?
C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\paths.ini

If there is one, could you open it in Notepad and post here what it says?

If you don't have a paths.ini file, you could try creating one yourself:

(assuming that's where Winamp was installed)

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

siebe83,

Many thanks for your help.

You had me 'searching'.

Outcome was that it appeared that 'some way' I had managed to mess up my install when I recently re-installed or upgraded to 5.3. Possibly with the initial install question about whether one copy with access for ALL users.

So I decided to follow the FAQ section of the forum on 'uninstalling/re-installing' and started from fresh.

'APPEARS' now ALL okay with 'History' accumulating information and displaying correctly

Thanks again

John
