downloading question

after downloading winamp all was good. but when i started downloading stuff it all becomes winamp files which i dont want. how do i change them to what they normally are ?

What stuff? Please be specific. Audio files, video files, extensions? Winamp associates its self with many extensions. If you go to Preferences -> File Types, you can customise the extensions that Winamp will open for.
