crashing winamp with win2k3 and nvida
system is:
1200athalon thunderbird mother bord ks5a with sis audio built in 512 ddr ram os win2k3 (used win2k before and same problem) nvidia fx 5200 had a heculese 6.1 game theater but that would not even work with new video card (5200) problem is as soon as I installed the video card in w2k it would not run and crashed whole system when I tried to run winamp at all. takes forever to load and then crashed. winmedia player would not run there either changed out to win 2k3 and now only media plaer will work (I hate windows media player I WANT MY WINAMP BACK!) anyway I need the new video card as I am training for a job and need to have enough vid ram but what a pain anyone have a problem with this video card concerning winamp? and if so what did they do ps. I used the search fuction and looked a lot and found nothing relavant. please help I will grab the logger thinger's output as soon as I can and 0post those bits of info if this is not enough info but this problem happened as soon as I installed that dang card!!! so that must be it right?!!!?! |

What's the Wattage of your Power Supply Unit?
Is it 400w or more? (350w minimum) Anything less and you could have problems with that graphics card. Got the latest nvidia drivers? http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24.html Other than that, yeah, a dxdiag log (and maybe a hjt log too) might show something, but to be honest, it sounds more like a hardware related problem to me... |
