New to winamp. Most of my mp3's are not id3 tagged, just named within windows. When I load these mp3's they display as "no artist-no title" Must I go through and manually id3 each of these files or can I have winamp display just the actual file names without the id3 tag? I couldn't find any option for this within preferences or any mention of it in the online documentation.
If I must id3 the files to have them display properly is there a way to automate it so i don't have to go through every single mp3 and retype the same info already in the file name? I'd rather not do it manually. Thanks for any help. Chris |

The default display can be the Windows file name. To set this up go to Preferences (Ctrl+P) ->Plugins->Input and click on Nullsoft MPEG Auto Decoder. In the popup window click on the Title tab. In the Title formatting (default) panel use the entry %7
It's possible that some of the mp3 files have bad ID3 tags. If you're sure that you don't want to use ID3 at all, then also uncheck Use ID3v1/v2 tags. [Edited by Qaxar on 03-15-2001 at 10:08 PM] |

you can also download any one of the mass taggers that are specified at this post:
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=21147 They come with various options, including writing the filename as the ID3 tag, or writing the ID3v1 tag into the ID3v2 tag. Like my photography? Buy some here.... |
