For some odd reason, my winamp started NOT to play MONO files and only STEREO files. Someone please tell me why and how I can fix this !!

Thanks in advance !!

Winamppy:
Can you tell us more abou the files that don't play? Can you post a short sample? Could you also post a list of plugins?

shardraco:
If you have a mono audio file you cannot turn it into a stereo file, there is no stereo seperation information. Check that you haven't got "Force mono" checked in Preferences -> Playback.

One way to create the illusion is to render the track into two channels and then invert one of them. I don't think you can do this on playback in Winamp. Wait you might be able to do this with the Nullsoft SPS plugin. Hang on.

I made a quick SPS preset but I have no idea if it even works as this is the first one I have ever made. To use it remove the .txt extension and go to Preferences -> Plugins -> DSP/Effect -> Nullsoft Signal Processing Studio DSP -> Configure -> Load.

Maybe someone can comment as to wether it will work:
code:
spl0 = spl0;
spl1 = -spl0;

I don't think that will work with a mono source, Winamp will only be processing one channel(i.e. spl1 won't be used). Not at all sure you could do anything with Winamp's DSP. It may be possible to do something after it's left Winamp if your soundcard has effects processing, 'spacialize' or some such.

What you've posted would give you a wider spread on a stereo source, but at the expense of killing a lot of the bass and leaving a big hole in the middle. It's equivalent to wiring your speakers out of phase.

Thanks UJ. I wasn't sure if it would work as the help says spl1 is for right channel if channels = 2.
