Equalizer doesn't work on DRM songs anymore

I installed Winamp today and I noticed that the equalizer doesn't work on DRM songs anymore. I swear that this used to work in old version of Winamp. The FAQs say that this is a Microsoft restriction.

Is there anything I can do? How come Windows Media Player's equalizer works and Winamp's doesn't?

Please don't make me switch to WMP, I can't stand it!

the best suggestion is don't use drm infected files. wma is a terrible sounding format anyway.

or... (hint)use an old version of in_wm.dll

its like that due to legal restrictions.

Here's the obvious question... where can I get an old copy of in_wm.dll?

I'm stuck with DRM because I use a subscription service, so there's no way around that.

The old in_wm.dll (pre-5.08e) won't work with DRM-protected files.
