I have Winamp over a year now and there where no problems at that time, but now when I start winamp and would like to hear a mp3, winamp freezes all - only the mouse works (but I can´t click anything). Then I must close winamp over the windows task manager. OK - must be the configuration I thought but the mysteriosly thing is that when I open the windows media player and open a mp3-file it works. After I shortly played a mp3 in the windows media player for a few seconds, winamp works without any problems.
Also when the playlist has ended and winamp doesn´t play a mp3-file for a while the same thing happens - winamp freezes my computer when I will start a new song. Can anybody help me? My system configuration: PIII 933, 392 RAM, WIN98 SE, GeForce 256 SDR 32 MB and a standard OnBoard Soundcard VIA AC97. I´ve tried to reinstall winamp or choose to trying another configuration but it´s always the same. PS: Sorry for my bad english but i´m from germany... |

Can you reanimate winamp? > Then I must close winamp over the windows task manager. > OK - must be the configuration I thought but the > mysteriosly thing is that when I open the windows media > player and open a mp3-file it works. Exactly the same I noticed! > My system configuration: > PIII 933, 392 RAM, WIN98 SE, GeForce 256 SDR 32 MB > and a standard OnBoard Soundcard VIA AC97. The only thing that is the same on our systems is Win98Se and VIA AC97. Have Duron800 and Via KT133/686B Board, before I had K6-2-400 with ISA-Soundblaster16 but running on Win98 and never noticed such a behaviour with 2.72. When playing mp3s with system-integrated mp3-decoder no problem. Another fact I noticed. When copying to a floppy, the sound has glitches or something like that. Playing mp3s with the win-mp3-codec, the sound is clean while copying to floppy-drive. May be there is something wrong with the winamp-decoder. Changing between output-plugins doesn't change anything and when winamp runs, then I have no problems, so no hangup during playback. bye |

I´ve tried to something when winamp freezed my pc, but I can do nothing. No Task, no alt+tab, no alt+f4 - nothing works. only the taskmanager works. another thing I noticed: when winamp has frozen my computer and I closed winamp over the taskmanager, my pc won´t shut up regularly. I must then shut up the pc manually by the Power-Button. The fact is that winamp crashes windows and I think that there is the failure. I have three pc´s in a network and on all other pc´s winamp works. only the newest pc crashes with winamp. When Winamp runs it runs without any errors or hang ups. I must start windows media player before I run winamp then it works. This works but it´s a stupid thing. |
