Karaoke microphone audio

I'm using RoxBox to play Karaoke MP3 files - which uses Winamp as its sound engine. That much works great.

I've been plugging my mic audio directly into the power amplifier but I'd like to try running it through Winamp for more and better effects.

Question: is this going to work? Will the computer's mic audio processing delay always cause the mic audio to lag the MP3 audio? If so is there a way to delay the MP3 audio so it's synched with the mic audio?

Will appreciate any help with this.

George

try reducing the buffer sizes in directsound config closer to zero will reduce lag(might require quite a powerful machine)

preferences --> output --> nullsoft directsound -->config --> buffering tab.

i'm not sure if this will work as I'm not sure how roxbox works.
