Changing Winamp volume changes system volume.

I like to listen to music while I play video games and such. I use ventrilo a lot and I've noticed since I reformated that any time I turn down Winamp's volume it will turn down the volume of all programs running.

Is there a way to have it so I can turn down winamp and it not make all other applications become as quiet as winamp?

Preferences (ctrl-p) > plug-ins > output > select DirectSound (instead of waveOut)
