Winamp Freeze
Hiya guys, I have a pretty frustrating problem. i clean reinstalls as well. what happens is whenever i try to add media to the library, no matter what method, it freezes when getting information from files. i have about 40,000 songs. it works fine when i try with a folder with a few songs in it. but it does not want to scan my drive or the full music folder. Please let me know if there is a cure. Thanks.

Freezing since 5.34
I have the same problem with Winamp starting version 5.34. It freezes if I click around, try to minimise a window, etc. If I downgrade to 5.33 it works fine. Please help!!!

My solution
I have run across this problem as well. It did turn out, for me, that it was the eTrust Antivirus. Even after adding it to the exclusion list for both local scan and realtime monitor, it was still freezing winamp for 40 seconds (while still playing music).
I had to go into services manager and disable the realtime monitor service, this fixed the problem right quick. Just an FYI for anyone else that runs across this problem/thread in the future. -Regards |
