now that winamp's behaving, I'd like to get down to business. I'd like to throw a party, and I need some help finding out what I need to get from winamp to do it. Here's what I'd like to do: I'd like to play my music, have the visuals being projected on a projector, and still be able to control what is happening and will happen from my computer without it showing up on the projector. besides that, if there was a program that could make a playlist for me... by say analyzing the beats at the beginning and end of the songs, and then weaving them together (like a crossfader, but with the program finding the best song to be next. I'd also like to be able to preset what plug in is going to splay for specific songs. the really important part is the being able to project while still having the control of my computer. The rest of it I can deal with.
any suggestions? |

jesus!! Is there anything else you'd like Winamp to do??
Ok, the only way I can think of having the visuals on a projector, while still having an interface to interact with Winamp that is hidden from everyone else is to use two video cards on your computer. You can enlarge the visualisation window to fill the projector, and you can control winamp from the monitor using the second card. A second alternative, if you have more than one computer, is to use the WinampRC plugin http://www.winamp.com/plugins/detail...omponentFlag=P WinampRC is a network remote control for winamp. You can control the main Winamp functions over a network (LAN, or internet), and you can control the playlist. A third alternative is to use the Ampapod plugin, which lets you use a $25 univeral remote control to operate Winamp. It allows you to load your songs, playlists, or SHOUTcast stations with the touch of a button. Control output volume and other critical Winamp functions as well. Ampapod also includes an on-screen display, and can be found here: http://www.winamp.com/plugins/detail...omponentFlag=P I don't know of any plugin that will automatically analyse the files in your playlist and arrange them accordingly, I guess thats something you'll have to do yourself. However, there is a plugin that allows you to fade one track into another, so once your playlist is set up, you can hit play and forget about having any quiet patches between songs. The plugin is Crossfading Output and can be downloaded here: http://www.winamp.com/plugins/detail...omponentFlag=P I don't think that you can associate plugins with specific songs either - another thing you're gonna have to do manually. You could download a visualisation plugin that generates a random AVS instead. Like my photography? Buy some here.... |

awww well.. it seemed a simple thing to do. maybe some zealous coder out there wants to take a stab at it (*hopes and prays*), but I'll be able to handle it. Just think if you -could- do the stuff I described. Winamp would be Powerful! nonetheless, it's a kickass program and I'm glad I found it. Keep up the good work!
