Japanese text in 3.55 Playlist Editor?
Hello.
I have a problem with Japanese letters in Winamp. I've read the sticky about this, and set all settings just like it said in that topic (made by DJ Egg). However, in the Playlist Editor, the Japanese letters to NOT show up before I double click the song and play it. The other songs in the Playlist Editor display '???????' instead of the proper hiragana/katakana/kanji letters. When I double click them, the proper letters appear, though. In the media library, all letters are correct, but when i add songs to the Playlist, they go '?????'. I do not have any kind of playlist or anything, just playing directly off my iPod/harddisk. I'm positive I followed all directions given by DJ Egg in the sticky topic. Here's a screenshot displaying how the letters are correct in the Library, but not in the Playlist Editor. http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8136/sasavg6.jpg |

Didn't help. It's still the same way.
However, when I drag the files directly from Windows explorer into Winamp, everything is fine. It's just when enqueing/opening from Winamp Library that I get the '????' letters. Last edited by snkupo; 15th September 2007 at 08:50. |

the problem is that the portables support isn't as unicode complete as it should be. i've just tried it with the 5.5 beta since 5.35 won't correctly handle the test unicode files i have for my usb device (it all runs through the same code so is a decent test on my end). this will be looked into for the next/final build of 5.5. thanks for finding and reporting this issue

was as i thought, the code was converting things back to ansi for legacy support which it didn't need to do. if you can test out the next 5.5 beta (not sure when that'll be pushed out) then that'd be much appreciated to make sure that the issue is resolved (looks like ipods and usb devices were the main ones affected - not sure on anything else but will do some more testing for that just incase)
