System specs:

Windows 98 SE clean installed w/IE 5.5 SP-1
AMD Athlon 750
512 MB Crucial PC133 SDRAM
WD 20.5GB HD 72000RPM
Sound Blaster Live! Sound Card
Voodoo 5 5500 AGP

All drivers and software have been updated to latest versions.

When I try using the Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in v1.0 (x86) to make a WAV file from an MP3, it continually "rips" the MP3 into a WAV. Usually it takes a minute or so per MP3, but it stays in the mode of making the WAV..."creates" it, then "creates" it again, and so on.

It makes a file, but only a partial one. Never had this issue (or any other bug in Winamp!) affect me before. I tired this on various MP3 files and they all did the same thing.

Any suggestions?

Weird . . . that's a new one by me!

Let's first ascertain one or two things:
Have you installed any 3rd party plugins & are any of them currently active?
All General Purpose & Input plugins are permanently active, but DSP/FX are only active when selected.
You should make sure that "None" is selected under DSP/FX b4 using DiskWriter.
I doubt if any extra Output plugins are to blame as only one can be active at a time . . .
. . . DiskWriter in this case.
Any extra Visualisation plugins shouldn't make any difference either, tho' you should also make sure that the vis isn't running b4 using DiskWriter.
The most likely suspects will be General Purpose or active DSP/FX plugins.

Secondly, are you using the EQ in conjunction with DiskWriter?
For best results, the EQ should be turned off.

Other things that can effect DiskWriter performance:
Concurrently running programs/apps. Maybe you have too much running (foreground/background)?
Is Winamp Agent enabled? If so, try disabling it first (Prefs -> Agent).
Or maybe something else is interfering with DiskWriter? A firewall or A-V perhaps?
Free HardDisk space obviously isn't an issue here. I'm sure you've got a fair few gigs available.

As you can see I'm clutching at straws a little, but try your best to answer these few questions & we'll take things from there.

ps. What version of Winamp do you have? (current = v2.73)

DJEgg, you have really disappointed me this time... When I saw this post first time, I hardly managed to prevent myself from flaming this guy beceause I expected someone else to point his stupidity.

The answer is: disable looping, (censored) and keep your (censored) away from this forum (censored).

Suggestion: create second read-only bug reports forum so we can post real bugs there (and let me moderate it).

Ya mean, this guy actually had the Repeat function turned on and didn't even realise it?
Ya mean, I didn't even bother to mention this first time around?
Shucks, I'm as equally embarrassed myself
Then again, it was first thing in the morning when I initially replied, yawn.
I'm fully awake now . . . honest!

I've seen similar problem several times while testing stuff. BTW, I hate when somebody doesn't understand the difference between Tech Support - Newbies (Tech Support - MP3 to WAV ?) and Winamp Bug Reports forum.

Too right!

Hey, and at least they sometimes even come back to admit it!
