RME Fireface - Winamp-only weirdness

RME Fireface 400 - latest drivers/firmware (at Oct 07) - using Directsound driver.

I've had this issue with Winamp versions since 5.2x and kept hoping for it to be fixed. All works lovely except that when I swap from playing one "type" of file to another (eg. mp3->aac or mp3->wav or wav->avi) sometimes i hear digital "buzzing" that sounds much like a coarse sawtooth keyboard sound at a particular pitch. Stopping and restarting playback fixes the problem. It doesn't happen all the time, just now and then, but the sound is nasty especially with my monitors cranked up!

I hunch that this is a winamp issue because I don't get it with any other player or any other scenario when using the fireface.
