I have a
Pentium I: 75 megahertz 32 megs of RAM Sound Blaster IRQ 7 Now my problem is that I am trying to get winamp to run on this computer. It installs and opens and does all the things other programs do but I can't hear the MP3's I try to play. I can play CDs and .wav's just fine but their is a problem with playing the MP3's. If I turn the volume on my speakers up really loud I can hear the music playing very quietly/grainy. Now is this problem caused by my Sound Card IRQ of 7? Any help on this matter would be much appreciated. |

I doubt if the IRQ has anything to do with it, especially if you can hear wav's ok.
You should bear in mind that your system is probably underneath the minimum requirements for support of mp3 playback. 75MHz is very low indeed by today's standards. I always thought that 90 - 100MHz was the absolute minimum. What Windows OS are you using? (3.11; 95a/b/c; WinNT; 98/SE; Win2K; WinME) What type of SoundBlaster is it? (SB16, SBAWE32/64, SBLive, etc) Do you have the latest drivers? Does WindowsMediaPlayer play MP3's ok? Have you checked your volume controls? (Winamp main window & Windows Volume Control) |
