I'm having all sorts of fun trying to download music despite my company's download block. I'm currently getting [could not connect(1)] message whenever I try to connect to internet radio sources. Also, @ http://www.emusic.com I now can't listen to 30 second samples since downloading Winamp. Any ideas? I am running standard version of winamp, as I could not fit full version on a floppy I downloaded to at home!!

If your running Win 98 (or Win 2000?) Goto START>RUN and type 'msconfig' (no quotes) Select the far tab 'Startup' and untick anything that looked like It's stopping you from d/ling your mp3's. Or press CTRL + ALT + DEL and close anything that looked like It's stopping you from d/ling your mp3's. This may work.

Many thanks for that! I have already sorted that dilemma, but now there is no audio when I dial into a shoutcast station. All the HTTP's come up as OK, but there is zero audio? Firewall problem?

hmmmm,
does the PC actually make any sound (does it have speakers/soundcard.) try using the same method I posted before to close down the firewall if you think that is the problem

Yep, I can play MP3's now 'til the cows come home. Still no Shoutcast audio whatever I try. Any other ideas?

Yeah I know, I've tried to remove it several times but there are some server problems I suspect!
