two main windows for no good reason!

For some unknown reason, I now have two main windows on my desktop.

I've been using Winamp 5.2 for ages now, but decided to finally update to the latest to try out the bento interface. Installation went fine, selected the bento skin, and then noticed an instance of the "classic" winamp window in the bottom right corner. Assuming this was some anamoly in the skin, I switched back to the modern skin in monodark. Same (classic skin) main window remained dockled bottom right. Switched to the "classic" skin, which allowed me to reposition it, but as soon as I switched to any other skin, I end up with two main windows (with one ALWAYS hard docked bottom right).

Tried uninstalling and going back to 5.22, no joy. Even went back to 5.01, same problem - I can't get rid of this window unless I select classic skin, which merely allows me to reposition it.

Any ideas?

Classic "ghosts" are usually caused by a desktop enhancer or screen manager (examples: YzShadow here or here | ShoveIt or nView). Are you using some type of a desktop enhancer or screen manager application? Either add Winamp to the apps's exclude list (if there is one) or disable the app.

Please do not PM me for tech support. Any request for tech support through PM will be ignored.

No enhancer whatsoever, just stock Windows XP.

it isn't exactly a ghost per se - when ti was docked in the bottom right, I *was* able to minimize it to a playbar, but I was not able to reposition it.

Re-installed 5.51, used the Bento theme, and saw the "classic" window to the top left of wherever Bento was placed.. If I moved the Bento window to partially cover it, it would reposition itself into view. Switched to Modern skin, it's now in the upper right hand corner, and it can be "erased" to some extent by moving the modern window over it much like an eraser...but it will then fully re-initalize underneath again regardless.

UPDATE: Problem partially solved - following another thread on ghosting, I've figured out it's my WinSize software...so now I have to figure out how to make WinSize ignore Winamp...

Maybe try a full uninstall > reinstall (AKA clean install) of Winamp. A clean install of Winamp is usually a cure-all for funky issues. The are backup instructions if you are worried about loosing Winamp data, settings, third party skins/plug-ins etc.

Otherwise, please help us help you by providing Winamp & system specs.

You did mention that you tried uninstalling Winamp, however was that a "full uninstall > reinstall" of Winamp?

Yes, it was a full uninstall & re-install - but it turns otu the issue is my WinSize software - which I hope I can figure a workaround for, as it's the only free app I've found which does what it does

WinSize apparently has a "push back" feature. Maybe the fix/tip by photonbuddy, from the following old thread, will be of help...

Thanks, I'm going to try his "turn-off pushing from the top" tip and see if that helps...hopefully it won't interfere with repositioning any of my other windows.

Turning off "pushing from top" doesn't seem to work with the latest version of winamp, but I was able to resize it to 8x8 pixels and then hide it underneath the modern interface, so problem solved.
