Skin size?
Pardon the newbie question, but why don't the skins I download maximize into a full window like Bento does? If only certain skins can be maximized, then how can I sort them out when wanting to download new ones? With big widescreen monitors and high resolutions these things a pretty small if the can't be resized. Thanks for any info..

Not all skins are designed to be maximized. It's up to the skin designer.

As Sawg mentioned, not all skins are fullscreen skins like the Bento SUI (single user interface) skin. For a list of some fullscreen skins, click here.
Although not specifically related to fullscreen skins, you might want to have a look at the following... Changing Winamp's size |

As Sawg said, not all skins are designed to be maximized. But I'm not really sure what you're asking here. What skins did you download? And from where? Did you download any 3rd-party authored skins from the Winamp.com skins database? If so, then they offer a mix of modern skins (.wal file extensions) and classic skins (.wsz file extensions). All classic skins' proportions are constrained, so they have the same size/layout, and can not be resized (to be maximized anyway). If you are using those skins, then of course they would appear very small if used on big widescreen monitors with high resolutions (as you indicated).
Now, most of the 3rd-party authored modern skins in the skins database are modular, and resizable and can be maximized to some degree (again, depending on the skin author, as Sawg said above), whereas the Bento skin you mentioned is a SUI (Single User Interface) all-in-one skin. Most SUI skins can be maximized into a full window like Bento can (and as you indicated above). The database of SUI skins is somewhat limited though. Most modern skins are modular (separate dockable modules/windows). Anyway, I guess you are looking for SUI skins. Here's a list (from 2006 - so there may be more now) that was compiled by JonnyMac at the time. Those that are bolded in the list are SUI skins. Hello Nunzio
![]() @ angus49 & Nunzio As time allows, that list is periodically updated. Of course, I can only update the list when I find other SUI (or SUI-ish) skins. |
