Is there a way to undo "remove dead files"?
I tried to remove the dead video files from my library, but it removed ALL the dead files - IE: All my files, which I have on another ext. HD
Problem is that I dont want all the files in my library yet.. Is there a way to "go back" I dont feel like adding back all 100 artists I already added  (already did that once) |

Well, if you don't have that external HD connected when you press that button, then of course Winamp will treat them as missing files (it won't find them) and will in fact remove them. So, it behaved properly and did exactly what you "told" it to. Now, after you re-connect the external HD and then re-add those files on the external HD back into the Library (yes - you'll have to do that), then, before you press that Library button again to remove missing files, make sure that the external HD is connected, else they will be treated as missing (because of course - they are) and will be removed from the Library again. As a preventative measure (in case this happens again), read about how you can backup your Media library database here. Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads. "remove dead files" is what it was (and still is) called in winamp 2.x
only thing i can think of at the time would be to quickly find the old m3u file in the winamp directory and hope it wasn't updated yet, i think it usually only updates when you close winamp. or failing that, crashing winamp usually forgets any playlist changes (i have unfortunately found out the hard way, losing a lot of time consuming playlist changes on crashes over the years) but your best bet for the future is the "playlist undo v0.5.3" plugin. lets you keep x number of playlist changes stored in files, and adds a shortcut key of "alt z" to undo the last playlist change. life saver plugin i'm sure you'll now agree! |

btw... the latest version of the Playlist Undo plugin is version v0.5.4, located here. *Note: you can also have the distinction of being the first person at DrO's site to submit a review for the plugin (if you'd like to).
