I want the LITE version back
Where is the Lite version gone.
Why does Winamp drag us so much to this bloated version? We want it quick & slick and not fatty and distracting. Keep it slim, really! Or do you want to go the same bloat direction like ACDSee, Real and Mediaplayer which all gone worse from release to release? Please don't! |

You want the Lite version? Then instead of complaining, go ahead and download it from where it's always been. But make sure that you make a comparison of the features that are missing in Lite that the other packages offer.
Features are indicated by this symbol on that page - ![]() btw... what you call "bloat" in the Full version are actually core feature changes that were implemented due to countless requests/wishes from the vast majority of Winamp users that post in these forums. You can download the Full version and keep it light because it is light, at least as light as how you choose it to be, and that is due to selecting/deselecting whatever you want to in the very configurable installer options. Read more about what I say about that here. Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads. Well, if you click the update notice in WinAmp you will not find this offering but only the bloat versions. Thanks anyway. |

And again, pay attention to the installer(!), you can deselect everything to the point of it being just the Lite version. |

I choose a full install, and I still have a great experience with Winamp. I really can't see why you're unhappy with it. If you do a full install, you still don't need to use any of the online services...you still need to click on them to use them, so just don't click them! ![]()

What the bloat?! The installer is just 11 MB (<9 MB w/o additional language packs)! There almost nothing is written to system folders in a process of the setup. The good example of the bloatware is well-known cd/dvd-burning program or a operating system that takes around 8 GB of the disk space when installed

The full installer is 9mb. My 5.35 lite installer is 1.5mb. That's a huge difference. It would lessen the load on the servers to offer a lite version instead of requiring everyone to download a larger file only to install bits of it. Please bring back the lite version.

AOL can afford the bandwidth, it's okay. Plus the Lite version is still there, at the bottom of the page under
"Winamp International Downloads" (Since the Lite is English only, and the main one has the included language packs)

webbrowser
I just installed the full version twice, it is nice that you can choose through custom and skip alot of the 'stuff' that you dont want. I've never liked the online stuff like shoutcast, and am happy that I could make it go away.
I was not able to find an option to not install the web browser, did I miss it? |

moreover, you can just ignore the webbrowser.
trust me, nothing is sent to it unless you click a search button or want to open a site from winamp
