stream title doesn't refresh in player after DJ Switch
howdy. we have a dj radio with dj switches. means one streams, other tries to connect. the next dj is connected as soon as the previous DJ disconnects.
Now for all listeners the stream name doesn't refresh in their player, which should read the new DJ's stream name. Also hitting play again in the player doesn't refresh the stream name. Odd: On the shoutcast page it always reads the correct name. When i reboot the server and shoutcast it works again for soem switches. the other day we have the problem again till the next reboot. Now I dunno the reason :/ I saw it happen when the previous DJ streams his winamp playlist (from soundcard input maybe). then this (song) name is overtaken to the next dj as "Song Name - Stream Name". but could also be it happens without streaming files from the playlist. i didn't change much on the config. Server is Linux v1.9.7 |

You might get better results by actually having each DJ kick the previous DJ before they connect. Then the server *knows* it has lost its source and will pay attention to the new stream info when the next source connects.

yes. click the admin link and input the "admin" username and password and kick is next to the ip at the bottom of the page.

What player are the listeners using? WMP seems to retain the Stream Title until restarted regardless of whether the outgoing DJ is kicked or not. I think WinAmp does the same - it only reads it at time of connection. I'd need to check though.
If it's of any interest I have put together a PHP script to kick the current source (DJ) without the kicker having to know the shoutcast admin password. I keep it in an .htaccess protected "djonly" area of my site (the SC admin password resides in a PHP include so can't be viewed). Happy to share if anyone wants it.... I even did a version that will only allow a source to be kicked if the have "Auto" in their title. Cheers GeeTee |

yes winamp behaves so. but this and kicking the dj doesn't explain that the old title is showing up daaays after the last stream. so with new DJ's inbetween and long server-off time.

Simple!
Okay in the document...
add this to the first line <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="30" /> This will work with PHP and HTML basically the refresh simply tells the page to refresh and the 30 is to refresh it every 30 seconds. This is of course editable. I do aplogise if this is not what you wanted but this is certainly something that is needed. |

Hi. I'm having the same problem as the member in the first post.
What is happening: The song name and all info works when I am the DJ. If the DJ is switched, the song info no longer displays in the player. I have tried the kicking method described with no result. I tried killing and restarting the service between DJ changes. Still only shows song info when I am the DJ. Any ideas or suggestions would be great. ~ Great work on this software. Keep it up everyone.

bump! annoying bug and no way to fix it?
btw: the rob1601 solution is for the website displaying which is reading the stream title correctly, just not the players. |

Based on what you've posted, chances are that your other DJs have unchecked the "Enable Title Streaming" option in their DJ software encoder. In the DSP, that's under Output tab of the DSP, at the bottom

checked the SHOUTcast D.N.A.S. Status page. it reads the Stream Title correctly and only Current Song is an old stream(!) title, even trice plus some crap characters.
Looks like foobar, Windows Mediaplayer, VLC, Winamp2.91 and what not all read the Stream Title and only Winamp5+ reads the Current Song (which is buggy as stated above). Can't Current Song be disabled in the soutcast conf? We also guess that the bug is caused (for all following streams till server reboot) when a certain DJ of us goes on air. Maybe he has some settings wrong? Asked him if he has "Enable title update" ticked. Let's see if that makes it work. |

ok the DJ we spotted as "bug creator" said "Enable title update" is and always has been ticked as well as "URL" and "Title" below.
What else can it be? I don't think that any shoutcast conf setting causes it? |
