Wrong side of the road?

I woke up about 45 minutes ago and had to sign my time card at work. So I head out right when I wake up. I get about half way there when a cop stops me and asks if I'd just waken up and where I'm headed and where I work. I tell him my information and he runs it through his computer. He then tells me to ride my bike on the correct side of the road. He takes off and I'm thinking WTF? I didn't know there was a correct side of the road for a bike on the sidewalk. I'm pretty sure I was stopped for the fact I look kinda like a crackhead when I wake up. I'm not mad for him doing his job but that's kind of ridiculous.
