Video Playback Problems

I searched the Forums and didn't find my answer. I have a laptop connected to a monitor. When I try to play movies on the laptop it wont show up on the monitor. it opens up but is just a blank screen. When doing the same thing in windows media player it works fine. anyone have any ideas. Thanks

Ok so i figured out if i do extended desktop it will work but not in clone mode. I use clone mode alot so would still like this to work in that mode if possible.
