Constant high cpu usage in all new versions

Hi

System specs:
OS: XP Sp2 x32
CPU: Pentium 4 3ghz ht
Ram: 3gb
hdd: 750gb
Connection: 384kb Adsl

I'm having a general problem with version 5. not so prevalent on the original version5 but worse now. I always have 50% usage on my cpu. Whether it's been running for hours or just opened. i've disabled the song ticker, changed back to an old skin and checked that it's not scanning for files. No idea how to reproduce. like i said it's always like that.

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Shintorojin

P.S. I did do a search and didn't find anything concrete that worked.

haven't got any dsp or vis plugins running. unless they are not unloading properly. as for the equaliser. i don't have to be playing a song and it'll still be at 50%. however its the same while playing a song with the equaliser off....

Hey thanks for all your trouble DJ Egg. i had to do a format re-install yesterday and the problem seems to be gone now.

But just for interests sake. I deleted the winamp folder and the previous install before installing the new version so it would've only been the plugins that come with winamp...

Thanks again,
Regards,

Some programs are known to silently install Winamp plugins.
I have a strong suspicion that this was the case with you...
