Automated Stop & Start Stream advice needed

G'day everyone.

In simple terms what I am trying to do is stream from our radio station logger to the net.

The only problem is sometimes we have to stop our stream...
That being Fridays 6pm to 11pm and Saturdays & Sundays 12pm to 6pm.

This is due to us now having the AFL streaming rights, so we can't broadcast that.

So how can I set up shoutcast to automatically stop streaming from our logger, then re-start again at what time I tell it?

In an ideal world I'd love to be able to switch from streaming from our logger to some loop type announcement then back to the logger stream when the AFL is finished.

Can anyone offer some suggestions?

if you are using windows...

you could possibly create a task to perform in windows...
to open and close the programs.

i think its in control panel...cant remember.

i used to do this to log certain programming at different times.

or if you have a router you can block the connection times from the ip address if it has that option.

This way the server will not stop but merely block the ports and stop the stream leaving the network.

you can then schedule the ports to open at x time to start again.

alternatively google for station playlist and amazing clockewheel they may help.

if your using linux you can use a cronjob entry (well 2 rather , one to start it and one to stop) just log into your ssh and type [man crontab] without the brackets ofcourse, for a full manuel.
