Installer installs WMP; file associations
Have following probs with winamp, latest version.
All that on my Vista Business 32bits. 1. Installer wants install also Windows Media Player. What for ? Don't understand that. 2. My translations to English here might be inaccurate. Sorry. Preferences-File Types, pushing all selects all entries on file types list. Opening preferences dialog once again and none of file type is choosen again. Also if making it on administrative account. |

Hi
1. Surely WMP 11 is already installed, as it comes by default with Vista, yes? Or did you remove it or something? Winamp will try to install WMP 9.1 CODECS only, if they don't already exist - but only when you keep any of the "Windows Media Audio/Video" options checkmarked under the "Multimedia Engine -> Audio/Video Playback" section on the "Choose Components" page of the Installer Options: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....id=199851#list "WMA Encoding" under "Audio Encoders" also requires the WMP9.1 codecs. 2. Administrator accounts on Vista aren't true administrator accounts, like they were under 2k/XP. They still have certain limitations. There's only one true admin account under Vista: http://www.computerperformance.co.uk...r_activate.htm On all other accounts/profiles, you'll either need to open Winamp by right-clicking the desktop icon and selecting "Run as administrator", or make it permananent via: Properties -> Shortcut -> Advanced. The settings changes that require regsitry write access/permissions (such as: Prefs -> File Types) will then work properly. |
