Playlist path question.

From reading previous posts, I had been able to go in and edit my playlists (in particular, Internet Radio) and put in my own text. It used to be in the Winamp Plugins folder.
I recently went to v5.53, and now I can't find them.
Are the playlists named something else and where might they be.
Appreciate any input ...
Thanks ...
Bob

It depends on your Windows OS, and whether you installed straight on top of the previous version (aka: upgrade), or into a new folder/did a clean install...

For straight upgrades on Win2k/XP, the database/settings should still be read from/saved to wherever they were before.
So if it was "C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml", then it still will be.

On clean Win2k/XP installs, and on Windows Vista, settings etc are saved to %AppData%\Winamp\...

This was an upgrade on XP from v5.5.
"C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml" is where the playlists were before.
I now have "NO" folder named "ml"
I search for .m3u and find nothing.
Yet, I have a number of playlists set up for various radio stations in Winamp, and they work just fine.
Go figure!
Maybe an uninstall and complete re-install?
Or go back to a version that works.
Any thoughts?
Thanks ...
Thanks ...

Uninstalling will delete everything, so unless you follow the backup instructions first, then no, I don't recommend doing that.

Did you look in %AppData%\Winamp\Plugins\ml

which will resolve under XP at:

C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Winamp\Plugins\ml

Note that the "Application Data" folder is hidden by default, so you'll need to make sure you can view hidden files/folders first via Windows Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View tab.

Or just type %AppData%\Winamp into the Explorer address bar.

However, the fact that the Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml folder is now empty suggests that you must've either manually cleared the database or uninstalled Winamp at some point...

My apologies, DJ.
It's all there.
I was not aware AppData was hidden. I just rebult my computer and normally do not have it hidden.
Of course Search won't find it.
Plus, I was working off a printed page that I got from the form back in 2005 and it shows ...
C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml\
I guess way back, playlists were in the Program Files?
There still is no 'ml' in C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml\.
Perhaps that is OK.
Anyway, I have found them and have edited and fixed them.
Thanks for your time.

Correct. Now that we no longer support Win9x, we do as all other Win2k/XP/Vista-friendly programs do, and save all settings/database etc to the %AppData% dir instead.

Note that you can disable this behaviour on Win2k/XP (but not Vista) by deleting %ProgramFiles\Winamp\paths.ini (or editing it to point to a different settings folder instead). Deleting it will make Winamp read/write in %ProgramFiles%\Winamp\... again.
