Winamp 2.91 VS. Winamp 5.531 - Questions

I've changed from Winamp 2.91 to Winamp lite 5.531. I've tested some things. Now I have a few questions.

1. Why does in_mp3.dll 4.4 sound different than in_mp3.dll 2.91?
I think 4.4 sounds very filtered/worse? I've used the same output plugins for both.(DS, Asio, KS)
Things like Equalizer, FL3EQ, Dither, 24bit, etc. are turned off for testing.

2. Why does in_mp3.dll 4.4 use more cpu power than in_mp3.dll 2.91?

3. How is the quality of the new Constant-Q EQ? Does it cut the high frequencies above 16kHz?

1. Probably because the 'Fast Layer 3 EQ' was enabled by default in 2.91 (in_mp3 config -> Decoder tab)

2. No idea. It doesn't here. Winamp 5.53 actually uses less cpu for me than 2.x ever did.

1. FL3EQ was turned off in Winamp 2.91 and 5.53.
Are there any new filters in use? It sounds more polished. I don't know yet if I like it or not.

2. Very strange. I have a P4 3,2GHz & 2GB Ram.

Winamp 2.91 = 0% CPU usage
Winamp 2.91 with 4Front EQ = 0% CPU usage
Winamp 2.91 with FL3EQ = 0% CPU usage

Winamp 5.53 = 0%-2% CPU usage
Winamp 5.53 with FL3EQ = 0%-2% CPU usage
Winamp 5.53 with Constant-Q EQ = 2%-3% CPU usage
Winamp 5.53 with 4Front EQ = 2%-10%! CPU usage (Limiter on/off)

Winamp 5.53 with in_mp3.dll 2.91 = 0% CPU usage

3. There's nothing written about the quality of Constant-Q EQ. I know it uses different bands. Does it cut high frequencies like Fast Layer 3?

3. Benski, Winamp main dev wrote, that it just sounds different, you have to make your own tests and choose, what sounds better for you, I guess.

Benski's explanation
