Winamp Changes my Desktop from 32 bit color

I just did a clean wipe and reinstall of XPpro (which I have done before), and then started reinstalling. The I had used was out of date so I updated to 5.531 (64 bit) 4 days ago. Every time I start this new version of my computer changes from 32 bit color to 8 bit color. I have to go into setting and change it back, it won't go back on it's own. I have used for years and never seen this. Did I do something wrong (again)? [XPpro, 2g memory, AMD 64 Athlon Motherboard with VIA Raid support]. I looked and did not see this issue listed before. [I'm really not very Techie...I'm primarily a user only. Please, if you can help keep your answers 3rd or 4th grade level or I will have to call my son to translate .]

1. its impossible for winamp to be the cause of this as it doesn't have a function like that.

2. are all your drivers installed correctly?

3. did you do a clean install of winamp or did you copy all the old files(including old third party plugins)?

Thanks for your reply.
Clean wipe of my H/D, clean install of XPpro, went to website and got a clean copy of Winamp.

Drivers? Hmm. I will pull the driver's disc for my Via Raid and reinstall them all. XPpro took care of the rest.

Thanks.

Right-click the Winamp desktop icon, select 'Properties'
Uncheck everything in the 'Compatibility' tab
