I use a pc running SAM Broadcaster. I use a Rode NT-1a microphone into a Tascam us-122 interface/card. I insert a behringer composer into the mic line. I monitor with my home theatre speakers. No EQ necessary...honest.

That's it. Total cost: maybe 2,000 dollars (us)...
