bug - if Windows mapped drive goes down, Winamp skips forever
Hi,
Just wanted to post this bug report for one of the Winamp devs to pickup. Bug: If playing a file from a Windows Share mapped drive, and that shared drive goes down (lost network connection) Winamp will skip the last few ms of the song forever (I have to press Stop to get Winamp to shutup). Consequence: It's really annoying the few times it's happened. My Setup: Winamp 5.52 Playing .flac file so input must be NullSoft FLAC Decoder 2.04 [in_flac.dll] Output: DirectSound Output v2.47 [out_ds.dll] No DSP some general purpose plugins... I don't feel like listing them. Winamp runs on Windows XP Pro SP2 Windows mapped drive is FC5 Linux Samba server -J_Tom_Moon_79 |

Waddya mean BUG? It's not a bug. It's expected behavior. If your network drive goes offline/down in the midst of playing a song, it's the same as if you were to delete the song while playing it. It doesn't exist any longer. So, how the heck can Winamp continue properly playing a file that no longer exists?
Winamp's gonna bug out. It's expected. You'll then either have to stop Winamp, or advance to another song in the playlist that is not on the failed network. Solution/ preventative measure: Make sure you maintain your network connection while playing a song/songs on a networked drive/folder. Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads.
