Any reason to switch to Winamp 5?
I still use 2.81 and love it. I tried to switch to winamp3 with disasterous results so I went back to the old one. I was just wondering if winamp 5 boots up fast and does not slow your computer down like 3 did. Is anything superior about the new winamp?

Winamp 5.X is just a continuation of the 2.X series, unlike Winamp3 1.0 which was a total re-write.
In short: Media Library Video Replay Gain Portables Support CD Ripping CD Burning Native FLAC support Podcast Support Global Hotkeys Transcoding / Format Converter Auto playlist generator Auto tagger Winamp Remote Multiple Playlist support NSV Modern freakin' skins! Unicode! Better localization support 24 bit decoding Advanced Title Formatting Not just one, two new Equalizers It's supported, 2.X is NOT APEv2 tag support Unified / Simplified tag editor Album art Bento! etc... | Brought to you by ^V ^C | The one... the original... no seriously! |

Winamp 5 is the best of Winamp 2 and 3
2+3=5 Why? Cause no one wants to see a Winamp 4skin. *is mauled for ripping off the FAQ* |

Thanks Sawg for the useful reply. I guess I'll take a chance, I can always go back I guess. After the winamp3 fiasco, I had to reinstall windows to go back to 2.81.

If you use the Classic skin (which is still exactly the same built-in skin as the one in 2.9x), and uncheck whatever features you don't require in the Installer Options, then you'll hardly notice the difference between 2.9x and 5.5x - except for the heap of extra features, as listed in Sawg's post above...
