Transfer Winamp history

I use Winamp on various computers, and I only use it to listen to Shoutcast stations. Is there a way to trandfer the contents of the History list from one computer to another?

I hunted through the Windows registry, but did not find this information.

Winamp Pro version 5.5
Install used 'shared' user settings

Rest of system information is in the attached ZIP file:
HijackThis log / dxdiag / List of Plugins
Attached Files
File Type: zip info.zip (16.5 KB, 324 views)

The Media Library -> History view database is stored in:
C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml\recent.dat & recent.idx

I have one PC where this folder does not exist:
C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml\

Should I just create the directory?

This is a laptop PC is running Windows XP Home Edition.

I just based it on what IniDir was stated in your my_plugin_list.txt file.

For clean installs, by default, settings are saved to and read from %AppData%\Winamp

Which for Win2k/XP will resolve to:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Winamp\plugins\ml

And for Vista:
c:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\plugins\ml

Winamp 5.5 will only read from/save to Programs Files\Winamp if you
1) upgrade from a previous 'shared settings' installation
2) delete or edit paths.ini (%ProgramsFiles%\Winamp)

Thanks! I keep forgetting about the flakey "roaming" directory under Windows Vista.

Could not even see that location with Windows Explorer - especially annoying to have to drop back to the command prompt to copy the files over.

Yeah, those folders are hidden by default.

Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View tab
Show hidden files and folders

One of my PCs seems to be losing track of its history. IIRC, this started happening after one of the Winamp updates this year. When I boot the machine and load Winamp, the are only one or two items in the history.

I have saved some history files (dated 03-01-08) that I copied from another PC. I copy the data files to the correct location using this "cmd" file:

copy recent.* "C:\Documents and Settings\Rick\Application Data\Winamp\Plugins\ml\"

After I do that, Winamp uses the new history data. But this only lasts until I re-boot the computer.

Any ideas on why the recent.idx and recent.dat files are getting over-written? I am using Winamp Pro, version 5.531.

Winamp -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Media Library -> History

Is "Limit tracking to items played in the last x days" checkmarked, maybe?

If yes, and it's set to a low value, then this might explain why it keeps clearing itself.

Other than that, are you maybe running some cleanup app like Window Washer, Tracks Eraser, or CCleaner? If yes, then chances are that it needs configuring to exclude Winamp or the Winamp dir(s), otherwise it'll continue to delete Winamp's config & database files...

"Limit tracking to items played in the last x days" was indeed checked. The default value was 30 days. Since I rarely used this particular PC, there were only a few items that would show up in the history.

Now that I have un-checked that option, the entire history is shown. Thank you SO much!
