Winamp 5.531 errors in vista
Hi
I have a few issues with winamp and Vista Home Premium SP1. First of all, the file associations are not changed to winamp? I installed the agent to see if that helps, but the files keeps on opening in Windows Media Player, and I really dont feel like changing every file to open in winamp manually. When I installed it the first time, it took ages to load because of the Media Library (there was nothing in it yet) so I reinstalled and it started loading faster? Winamp (I think) gives a really weird error when opening a file, closing it and while it is still fading out, opening the same file again (this is after I changed associations for .mp3 manually) I get the following error message: Title: "filename" Error msg: "filename" "The object invoked has disconnected from its clients." Really weird, and its not on a network drive or anything. Then the last thing I noticed are the shorcut keys. I have an Acer laptop with "Acer Media Touch" (using synaptics software). When I click play/pause, winamp plays (if WMP does not take over) as it always did with my pc keyboard (never pauses though, but it never did). When I touch the next/previous button winamp skips up to 10 songs (not sure about exact amount, but its a lot). When I use the 2nd function next button it does the same. If someone could please help me with this multitude of winamp/vista errors, I would appreciate it. |

Update
I ran winamp as administrator (as I just saw in another post) but it did not set the file associations. Dunno if its something to do with SP1, the machine came out with it, so I cant compare "before and after". thx |

I've got hungarian vista so I just translate the options. Go to control panel and then search for default program (or something like that), then select default program settings. It will show you a list where you can find winamp. Select winamp and click set program to default (something). Then it will apply all file association for winamp. You can also select the option below that and then you can manually select which file do you want to play with winamp. I hope I can help you. |

Thanx for the reply, but that is not what I want to do. Winamp is supposed to perform file associations by simply selecting it in the preferences. Another thing I noticed is when "alt-tabbing" (escpecially in "3d mode" (heavens knows why that is there)) the basic winamp skin is displayed instead of the new Bento skin. Only the main window is displayed and sometimes nothing or just the title bar? I would actually like to contact tech support of some sort on this, but they did not exactly reply to my post yet, and I havent had time yet to search for an email adress on this site. |
