Show currently playing song in library

Hi,

I'd like my media library pane (not my playlist pane) to highlight the currently playing track, so that I can apply ratings more easily etc. When I've got a lot of tracks displayed at one time, I'd like the library to automatically scroll to the currently playing track when it changes.

Are these things possible? I can't find anything in the options that would suggest so. The "jump to file" section of the options seems the most likely, but is very confusing. Perhaps I need a new plugin or a different skin?

Any help is appreciated.

No. The Media Library is just a database/list of songs.

The currently playing file is active in the main player window (you can right-click the title in the main player songticker to access the rating menu) and is also highlighted in the playlist editor window (when the playlist is in focus, you can hit the spacebar on your keyboard to bring the current track into view).

Or you can also enable Global Hotkeys in Prefs and set hotkeys for Rating the current item (1-5 stars). I use Ctrl+Shift+1/2/3/4/5.

A shame - if there was some visual indicator in the library, the playlist pane wouldn't be needed at all when I just want to play a particular album or artist, so it would de-clutter the interface somewhat. Rhythmbox for Linux uses that concept.

Thanks for the tip about using the spacebar, but is there no way of making it "jump" automatically? Again, that would be really handy.

That doesn't seem to work for me. Some of the global shortcuts work fine, such as Play/Pause being assigned to my keyboard's Play/Pause multimedia button, but none of the rating shortcuts work, and I can't work out why. It's not like any other application is using the key combinations that you mentioned.

Winamp -> Prefs -> Jump to File -> Menus & Buttons tab
Uncheck "Prevent Winamp from scrolling the current file into view"

As far as I know, that setting is unchecked by default, so you must've checkmarked it yourself at some point...

Hmm, and I don't know what to tell you about using Global Hotkeys for ratings, other than it works perfectly okay for me...
