Serious sound problems with winamp
Hello!
After nearly 2 years of using Winamp 5.3 without problems I have recently experienced serious ones with sound quality. Every mp3 opened in Winamp is played as if the file was corrupted or played two times faster. Additionaly small red square is twnikling near the Play icon. (normally it's green one). I'm sure that files are OK. (Media Player has no problems with them) I tried to reinstall, then I did clean install following the FAQ steps. Because of the fact that nothing happend I tried to do sth with plugins..no success. Can anybody tell me what might have happened to my Winamp ?? ![]() What does the red sqaure mean? Thanks for any help . Midak Last edited by midak; 25th June 2008 at 14:23. |

What does the red square mean?
This just shows that there is no data available in the input buffer, presumably because the .mp3 can't be decoded properly. You would only normally expect to see this on streamed content with a poor internet connection. UJ |

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, the red square appears constantly when an mp3 is played.
I used Hijack, avg and other tools but nothing suspicius (apart from cookies) was detected. I also downloaded new decoders but the problem still exists. However, new mp3's are played perfectly and without any distortions, weird noises etc. So it probably means that the old ones were damaged by sth. (trojan, virus). |
