Skins don't work.

I've downloaded the latest version of winamp, and for a while now. None of the skins I try work. They're going to the right folder. Everything is in place. But everytime I try applying the skin, it goes back to winamps basic skin, the classic version.

The new skins that I download don't even show up in the skin drop down paine like they're supposed to. Like they used to with every other previous version of winamp.
Am I the only one having this problem, am I doing something wrong now all of a sudden.
I'm feeling really disappointed in winamp if it's forcing me to only use that ugly and bulky bento skin.

Well, Xahero might not have responded, but I'm having the same problem so I will give it a go.

-PC or Motherboard make/model: ASUS M2NPV-VM
-CPU & RAM: AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
-Videocard: GeForce 6150
-Windows OS (including Service Pack, eg. WinXP sp2): XP sp2
-DirectX version: 9.0c
-Winamp version: 5.531
-Confirmation of the Winamp installation type (Pro, Full, Bundle, Lite): Full

Same problem: no skins, only Bento. I installed 5 or six skins of varying types, none works. I tried renaming the skins to .wal files (from the help suggested in this post:

but still nothing.

Based on your plug-ins list, you don't have the required plug-in for modern skin support Nullsoft Modern Skin Support v1.33 [gen_ff.dll]

Try reinstalling Winamp and make sure that 'Modern Skin Support' is check-marked in the 'User Interface Extensions' branch in the Chose Components section (page/window 4) of the installer.
