avi does not play

Good morning,
I am brand new here, and am having a problem. I download a file from my newsgroup, and try to open it with Winamp. The name shows up in Winamp, but the size is showing 0.00. I click play, and a small window shows up in lower right corner of screen saying, "End of play."
Could you help me?

At a guess, you just need to install FFDShow (and make sure it's configured to decode Xvid/DivX)
