another visual runtime error

So I did some extensive searching on the forums and have found no problem for the runtime error.

I have done a clean uninstall twice
I have added the update
I have deleted the pmp files

I would also note that I get the error every time I try and play any videos.

I also get the error if I try and play videos using windows media player suggesting this is a problem not exclusive to winamp

Anyhow I hope some one can look at my attachements and see something I do not

I should add that I can play videos that are labeled windows media video files but I get the error on AVI files only.

Also how do I make hijackthis file a .txt file instead of a .log file?

We need more info for video related issues:
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....d=161361#video

Please also attach a dxdiag log

To save hijackthis as a .txt file instead of .log, when you save it in Notepad, mnaually change the filename from hijackthis.log to hijackthis.txt (by typing it in).

At a guess, you've probably got 'hide extensions for known filetypes' checkmarked in Windows Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View tab.

Though you could just zip up both dxdiag & hjt logs into one zip and attach the zip.

My guess is that you've installed some dodgy DivX or XviD codec (DirectShow Splitter/Filter). Note that we recommend using ffdshow for AVI (DivX/XviD) decoding (see link above for details).

re

I installed ffdshow and it seems to have fixed the problem but take a look anyways and see if you see anything out of the norm please.

Thanks for the help.
