WMA files playing rapidly in winamp

I've been a winamp user from way back and have thus far always been pleased with it, but now something weird is happening whenever I play a .wma file (that applies to ALL wma files, even the not microsoft bullied ones). They play at about double speed, which would normally be hillareous and all, but I just want to listen to them...

All other filetypes play fine. The .wma appear to play freakily in winamp, but as I have no other player, I would not know if that's winamp-specific.

The chipmunk-effect started occurring when I upgraded to the newest version of winamp, before that these same files played just fine.

I have attached the HJT logfile as instructed in the sticky. Searching this forum jielded a number of suggestions about spyware infections, so I was hoping one of you guys might find one so that I may once again enjoy the sweet music...and the like.

PS: Adaware found 1 crucial infection which I have already removed, but I have not yet rebooted my system. MacAfee found nothing viral.

sounds like its more of a plugin trying to associate that shouldnt make sure only the windows media decoder is the only codec controlling the wma file (check for plugins you may have installed)

thanks rob
