Permanent MP3 file problem after installing Winamp 5531
Dear Admin/Officers,
I have been looking around the forum for weeks now and none of it really solve my problem here. After I install the winamp 5531 I get a wierd problem where it has affected all my mp3 files. Winamp fails to play almost 95% of all my mp3 files and those that can be played skipped badly sounded like fastforward while playing a tape, but the timer is working fine while playing the song meaning the seconds in the timer counted correctly. At first I taught something is wrong with my computer so below are the things I have tried: - Did a system restore. - Installing an older version of winamp. - reinstall my OS with full hdd formatting(not the quick format). - Copied the file to another computer and tried playing. - Copied into my USB drive to be played in my car audio. None of the actions above allowed me to playback the mp3 files that used to be fine. After install the latest version of winamp I get the problem. The only thing I do before I notice this problem is to install the latest version of winamp, so i'm pretty sure winamp is the cause of the problem. Does the latest version include some new stuffs that alters the mp3 files? Please reverse it if it does. No windows update before the problem. The only player now that works fine is Windows Media Player 11 which is the only player that can play all my mp3 without those problems. My System spec: - Windows XP SP3 - Direct X 9.0c - Intel Core2Duo - 2Gb RAM - 100Gb Hdd - M-Audio Soundcard(with updated driver) |

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but...
FAQ: Common Issues http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....=161361#common MP3's play at double speed or no longer play at all (malware related) http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=292924 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=293622 Alas, it sounds as though you've got the same virus as the people in those threads :-( For any further assistance, you would need to attach your HijackThis log: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....d=161361#specs |

First of all thank you so much for looking into my problem and help me out. I have attach a HijackThis log file. Please help me to solve my problem here, I have really a lot of mp3s which I really don't wish to rip them into mp3s again from my CD collections. I did not perform any fix using the program HijackThis. I'll be waiting for your instructions. thank you.

This was the virus, but looks like you've already got rid of it:
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winbjt32 - winbjt32.dll (file missing) You can fix that one entry ONLY with HijackThis. As for repairing your MP3's, the only known method so far is by using the FS-MP3Fix application referenced towards the end of those two other FAQ threads... |
