Auto-tag bug?

I dl´d the latest winampversion and wanted to try out the medialibrary, due to an expansive quantity of musicfiles (16000+, thanks kim!)... The first entries in the playlist is titled TRACK # so I am thinking "let´s autotag!!!"

I send the info and recieve the new ID-tag, doublecheck the entries and press apply... the laptop makes it´s patented crunchingsound for thinking and voÃ_la! presto! excelle.... uuuuh...?

nothing happens... I highlight the file and press Alt-3 for file info and it STILL says TRACK #... I press Tag down right and get full file info again... I press OK but NADA!

Frustration is building up!!!

Is this a bug for the newest winamp version or is it an option choice I have made that makes me a little over-the-top? I haven´t installed any plug-in´s other than the ones that comes with the original winamp... I am using Vista and the music is on an external HD....

please help?

I can't reproduce the problem here.

In Windows Explorer, make sure none of the files have the read-only attribute and that the folders have write permissions (c/o right-click -> Properties -> General & Security tabs)

if I may quote a great philosofer, I just want to say the following...

"d´oh!" -Homer J Simpson

seems that when I moved the files from my buddys computer, Vista decided that these here files is now under the protection of Mr. B. Gates and his team of programmers extraordinaire...

well... it solved the problem and I thank you veeeery much... I was pretty afraid that I had to live with 1000+ tracks labeled TRACK #

I found another little bug. and quite annoying one also... I accidently accepted a tag that was waaaay wrong... ie. a swedish folkrock artist suddenly went hispanic and switched sex...

i entered the file info (alt-3) to change it back manually, and although all the id3-tag info is correct (even the v1 and v2 info) it still says he´s a hispanic chick in the playlist?!?!?!?

is there something I did wrong or is this sexchange permanent???? *worries*

it would seem that the file switched name during the period I waited for a reply... does pressing this button combination alter an update for the file or what does it do?

Thanx for the quick response by the way....

It reads the tags of the selection and then refreshes the title shown in the playlist. You can also use this feature via the Misc button -> Misc -> Read extended info on selection. It should also happen when you play the file.
