question on burning

i have audio in a total recorder file on my computer in audio cd format. i can burn them to cd audio , but as you know there is only about 80 in of space.how can i take this and put it to mp3 format and burn on an mp3 cd to play in my car cd player that will play mp3 files to give me more compressed minutes to play off one cd..also, i may be behind the times with something newer than mp3 that you would reccomend.

convert the files to mp3 (you can do this with total recorder)

then use nero to burn the mp3's to a data cd.

if your car cd player only supports mp3 then you can only use mp3.(stay away from wma)
