No album art on iPod after firmware update 1.2.3 > 1.3

I have recently updated the firmware of my iPod with video 30Gb from version 1.2.3 to 1.3. Before, Winamp 5.53 with the standard ml_pmp/pmp_ipod plugins worked flawlessly, but since the firmware update no album art (embedded in ID-tag) is transferred to the iPod anymore. Ml_iPod doesn't have that problem. Am I the only one who is experiencing this problem?

Is no one else having this problem? 1.2.3 was fine, however after upgrading my iPod to 1.3 via iTunes, my iPod no longer shows album art when transferring my music via ml_ipod or pmp_ipod

I'm having the same issue with a 5G 60GB iPod video and WinAmp 5.531.

Worked well until I upgraded the firmware on the iPod, now no album art. I've tried using iTunes to reset album art sync as suggested in other threads on this topic, but to no avail.

I assume Apple changed something that pmp_ipod hasn't adapted to yet.

Had a play around with my iPod at the weekend, so far, iTunes, foobar (with foo_dop) & Winamp 5.54 with ml_ipod, all work fine, however, when I transfer an (MP3) album, with embedded artwork to my iPod with pmp_ipod, if I play the album back in Winamp and iTunes, the embedded artwork has been removed from the MP3's, what is causing this?
A reply would be most appreciated
Thanks

I was able to resolve this on my 5G by downgrading the firmware using iPodWizard.

I don't think it's winamp or ml_ipod that's causing the issue, but something in iPod firmware 13.1.3. Or at least what winamp writes to the iPod works with older firmware.

This is what I did (alternative 2): http://ipodwizard.net/wiki/index.php/Removing_Changes

I downgraded to 13.1.2.3 (which was still on my system in C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates) and my iPod displays album art again. Hooray. Note that I didn't change anything in winamp or resync the iPod. Apparently the album art was on it all along (winamp always displayed it from the iPod in the media library).

You can get iPodWizard here: http://www.getipodwizard.com/

No warranties expressed or implied. YMMV. etc.

Thank you mollman, my iPod was working with the older firmware, and I was looking for a way to downgrade.

Thank you

Yup, someone please look into this. With the latest firmware, iPod video does NOT display album art when using Winamp to transfer files. I tried the foobar plugin foo_dop, and that one has no problem with album art on the latest firmware. Just saying -- it's kind of a hassle to switch to foobar whenever I have new files I want to put on the iPod

Sorry to bump, but do we have any news on this issue?

Thought I'd give Winamp another try, and I can see that this issue still persists.

I was playing around with Winamp and iPod again last night.

My MP3's all have embedded album art, Winamp can see, and display them fine, if I transfer an album to my iPod and play it back from the iPod, the album art still shows, however, the album art is not displayed on the iPod itself.

Also, ml_ipod works fine, as does foo_dop for foobar.

As with Bulsara, when my iPod had the 1.2.3 firmware on it, it was fine, as soon as I put 1.3 on, album art would not show.

Shouldn't need to downgrade your firmware, there is no reason why pmp_ipod should not work, just need Winamp to pull their finger out and fix it!!

Just wondered if anyone has tried adding m4a's with embedded album art? Will try myself when at home if not

I am not sure if problem I had is actually the same problem u guys are having. I embed album art within music files and when I had problem with my iTouch 2G. I found out that in order to display album art, art type has to be "front cover". I use software called mp3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de) to save images, but maybe winamp is having the same problem. maybe winamp is not saving image as "front cover"

All my mp3's are tagged using mp3tag, I'm pretty sure the default cover type is "front", will have a play over the weekend.

I am very surprised Winamp have not looked into this issue, or maybe just give up with their broken plugin and ship ml_ipod as the default

Good luck waiting, look when this thread was created!!

In the meantime, I cannot recommend SharePod enough

http://www.getsharepod.com

or failing that, foobar2000 and foo_dop

If there is anyone else with this issue, simply uninstall Winamp and install foobar2000 and foo_dop, finally, album art on my iPod!
