Won't play from a shared folder - PLEASE RESPOND
I've posted about this bug before, but there was no response. Is WinAmp still a supported product??
Winamp won't play MP3s directly from the the root of a shared folder, but will play MP3s in a subfolder of shared folders. Here is how to reproduce this bug: I have a server "\\House-server" with a shared folder "music" with a bunch of albums, each in their own subfolder. If I right-click on the "\\House-server\music" folder and choose "Play in Winamp", Winamp opens with "1. music" in the playlist and it doesn't play any of the mp3s. But if I go one of the album subfolders in the music folder, and right-click to play the subfolder, Winamp opens and plays the MP3s in the subfolder. I can even move my entire music collection to a new folder (like "\\House-server\music\New Folder", and Winamp will happily play everything in that folder, and all subfolders of that folder. Why won't Winamp play MP3s directly from the the root of a shared folder, when it will play MP3s in a subfolder of that shared folder? I'm currently using Winamp 5.541, but I also had the same problem with an earlier version. The server is running Vista and the client running Winamp is using XP. |
