Sound card

Hey something is either wrong with my sound card or my settings. For like 1 month now when i talk on my mic to people
with my headset they can hear my music orwhat ever i hear from my ear phones. So say im listening to music and talking to a friend he cant understand me because all he can hear is my music. Is there any way to fix this without buying a new sound card?
