I recently lost all my mp3s due to a computer crash...I was hoping that I can turn all the songs that I waved out and songs that I already have cd back into the mp3 files...I tried doing it using winamp but now I'm totally lost! So if there's someone out there who can help, that would be hella cool!

Forget that CDex, it is way slow! Get Audiocatalyst from Xing instead, it is a lot faster!

But the fact Xing SUCKS It is the worst encoder on the market. Besides, CDex is free.
Speed != Quality |

balls!
I've used them both and you don't know what you're talking about. CDex blows goats compared to Audiocatalyst.
Looking for an argument? You've come to the right place! lol |

CDEX is freeware and uses the Lame encoder, which is the best.
AudioCatalyst is crippleware and uses the Xing encoder, which is the worst. End of the argument

That's right, ethan_h. Plus, a new beta has just been released (there's a thread about it in Gen disc). It namely includes MPEG to MPEG transcoding

Thanks a lot you guys for all your inputs! I've already downloaded CDex and I'm pretty satisfied with it even though it is a little slow. Maybe I should download Audiocatalyst also and see which one I like better. Did someone mention that I'll have to pay for Audiocatalyst? Hmmm...I don't know if I would want to pay for the Audiocatalyst but I'll go check it out anyways.

If you decide to go ahead and pay for a ripper, I suggest you get Audiograbber. It's updated often enough and I believe it's cheaper... and it is made with quite a bit of the same code as AudioCatalyst.
