not as of this moment but they are saying the next release of winamp should have that ability (i cant guarantee it) but pro version does have features that make the 1 time $20(estimate) worth your money

thanks rob

there's not been anything to state there will be mp3 cd burning support in the next version to my knowledge (would love to know where you've seen that mentioned). it's on the wishlist under the pro feature requests but then again it's been on that list for a good 4+ years now...

they keep talking about it but only the people who design winamp knows if they are going to put it in so i have no guarantee when it will happen

thanks rob

This is not true, other free standing applications can handle the pro features a lot better.

i dont know of any other music player that allows you to transcode mp3s with the quality that winamp does without multiple payments
also winamp is a whole lot more customizable than any of the other players ive seen

thanks rob

Don't compare the player features. Winamp is one of the best players, but there are tons of freeware applications, which allow you to rip or transcode files to MP3 format. Most of these are much more comfortable, than the build in burning/ripping feature in Winamp's library. It sounds hard, but it's the truth.

There should also be no big difference in quality, every LAME based ripper should create good quality MP3 rips. Other rippers have additional features like Paranoia ripping for scratched CDs etc, Winamp still lacks such a feature.

The build in transcoder is nice, especially if you manage your portable player with Winamp. But for ripping/burning i always prepare special programs, which do their job better.

i use the built in lame mp3 for transcodeing 128kbps mp3 file down to 64kpbs high quality mp3s to save room on my mp3 player an i have yet to see any other player have the same quality without losing the way the music sounds now yes there may be programs out there that their only purpose is to transcode the file but i have yet to find one that is completely free or isnt source codes (i have limited knowledge on how to put a program together)

thanks rob

Well I use CDex to rip my cd's and do any transcoding I need, it works awfully well and is released under GPL.

@shahidi124 - You probably have a data writing app already (Nero comes with all writers almost)

Anyway, what I do is save my stuff in playlists then create an mp3 cd and drag it into the folder (or root) on the cd where I want the files to be added. This is really easy. Dont work if you create a data cd because it will actaully just put the playlist file on the disc so that wont work :P

ClassicPro© v2.01 : This plugin allows you to use cPro skins in Winamp. ClassicPro skins are all SUI skins and loads very quickly. ClassicPro skins is even easier to skin than Winamp Classic skins. A new layout have been added since version 2.
