Ehmn, I wonder about something here (its sounds weird, but I just wonder):

If I download Winamp FULL from the main homepage it says
..winamp5541_full_emusic-7plus_en-us.exe
If I download Winamp FULL from this "released thread" it says
..winamp5541_full_en-us.exe

1) Whats the difference (emusic spam)? Why is it like this? Its the same filesize..
I deffo like what it says in this thread best, but why is it different on the homepage?

2) On the main homepage, we cant choose "all languages" in the drop-down list, but we can get a link for that in THIS thread. Why not in the drop-down list too?

3) On the main homepage, why doesnt it say "Lite" at the top? It says "Full, Bundle and Pro", but not Lite. We have to go all the way down on the site to find Lite..

Sorry, its not a big deal but I just wonder why it is like this. It has been like this since 5.5 though..

There's no difference... except for the filename.

full_en-us.exe still includes the optional emusic offer anyway.

But doesnt this result in you having a lot more files on the download server than what you actually need? Now you have two files of the FULL version because of different filenames.. Anyway, I like the one which only say full_en-us.exe best though. That should have been for the homepage too

And what about the homepage not having Full_ALL in the drop-down list? Down on the page it says international downloads though, where English has the link for ALL, not en-us which it should have been. There could have been a separate line for "All languages" instead though..

Heh. Im not back to be the same as I was before (believe me), I just thought it was weird having different filenames, and why it doesnt show "there" and "there" :P But as I said, I like the filename which dont say emusic best..

I agree with Kn0tte on the Lite installer needing to be at the top with the others. only people that know it is there or stumble around the page in desperation find it. It would also (mostly) save us form the barrage of "I want the lite version back"

Fully agree with you. I wanted to ask support for that long time ago, but didn't due poor english

Winamp is one of the most familiar software for me. Most of my friends and me uses the same software for music. It is very easy to go with. It is good to know that there is a new version released.

Hello All,

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but when I use Winamp5 (v 5.541) with the Winamp3 skin under Vista, I am unable to properly see Winamp when in "window preview" (taskbar thumbnails) or when pressing the Windows + Tab keys to perform window switching (both under Aero).

It looks all fragmented and odd. If anything, I can only see an unskinned Winamp 1/2 title bar and nothing else.

This issue has been present for quite some time now.

Any suggestions to this bug would be greatly appreciated.

everytime i klick on now playing i get netframwork error and winamp terminates itself.its really sad

i think winamp have a way to mutch features in 5.541 (i dont think there is somebody out there who use them all).it would be more importand to release a bugfixe version as instead put more and more new features in it.... its some time ago ..the release of 5.541 when will there be an update? next month or 2009? would be nice to know that

you may and and/or remove any feature you do want via the installer.

5.541 fixed all known bugs. If you were having this problem during the beta period it's your own fault for not reporting it. BUT I doubt this crash is Winamp's fault..

That's clearly your problem. Reinstall .NET Framework and see if it fixes anything. Also try downgrading.. (ie. if you don't need .NET 3.0, don't use it, use 2.0 or 1.1 instead.)

Another thing.. why are you using Now Playing? It's basically AOL advertising.. oh well, to each their own.

winamp doesn't use the .net framework in _any_ form so you've got an issue somewhere else in your system.

im definatly no friend of aol advertising but if i click now playing unintentionally my winamp crahes to death.

Maybe you have some sort of plugin installed for Windows Internet Explorer? Winamp use iE internet explorer (i think), so maybe its one of the various stupid add ons you get with other installers. Maybe if you right-click in iE you'll see other non default options.

But really dont have an idea why you see that crash if its not the above

If dont use iE then maybe update it to iE7 or iE8 beta (if you haven't already)... maybe it will work then.

Does this happen when you open the Browser or only with Now Playing? At the very least I'd recommend uninstalling Now Playing, especially since it's something you say you might not 'intentionally' use.

It probably still has some, yes heh. But it fixed all known bugs.

As for your report of it actually being a Visual C++ Runtime error, I'd unfortunately have to suggest you reinstall winamp cleanly and follow beta protocol to see if it's a problem with winamp, a random plugin you've installed after, or even IE like pieter suggested.

i did an clean winamp installation.
if there are notification about artist and title etc in the tray area and i click on them firefox starts and winamp gets this visual c++ crash

did a search in c:\ no winamp.ini found..

got it installed to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp.

seems backwards not to have this setting by default when installed on a vista system.. other multimedia players such as vlc works fine with [alt]+[tab] or [win]+[tab].

a little sad when winamp falls behind.

Winamp/Bento skin -> Options menu -> Notifications:
Uncheck "Open Now Playing on click"

Type %appdata%\winamp into Start->Run (or into the Explorer address bar)

On Vista, it should resolve to:

C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Winamp

which is where Winamp saves its settings

Open winamp.ini in Notepad
and change the value for vista_thumbnail= from 0 to 1

It's not enabled by default because it only works when Winamp is visible, but not when it's minimized to the taskbar (such is the nature of Modern skins that it would require a major rewrite to make this work).

With that option enabled, it's supposed to open in the Now Playing view in the Media Library, but I guess if ml_nowplaying.dll isn't present (because you either de-selected it in the Installer Options or manually deleted it later), then it'll attempt to open in your (default) browser instead....?

I'm not sure to be honest, lol.

I get a heap of script errors whenever I try to use any of the online services, so I just don't bother any more, heh.

Last I heard, for people that have firmware 2.x on thier iPhone/iPodTouch, that no one has cracked the hash yet and the only support you will get is through Itunes. I am sure someone will correct me if I am incorrect.

Not that I know of.

The 3rd-party ml_ipod plugin apparently has some basic support for iPhone/iTouch (pre 2.x firmware) but, even if there was a known hack, I don't think we'd be able to get away with providing native support (though don't quote me on that).
