Hello, is there a forum section for DSP presets talk? I couldn't find any, so I posted here.

Hello all,

bodisan is talking about the 'Nullsoft Signal Processing Studio DSP'

To use the file(s) from this thread unzip them, if needed, and then add the resulting file(s) (Preset Name.sps) to the C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\DSP_SPS folder. Actual path may vary with your Winamp install.

Then while in Winamp...

Winamp > Ctrl+P (for Preferences)
Plug-ins > DSP/Effect
Nullsoft Signal Processing Studio DSP > Configure button
Load button > Open Preset Name.sps
make sure 'Enable processing' is checkmarked

NOTE: There are already an small handful of NSPS DSP preset files available at the Winamp.com/Plugins page. Which come with an install file eliminating the need to install the preset(s) manually.

The preset is suppose to boost the bass in a nice and pleasant way. I really cannot get the same sound using winamp's equalizer. There are some very nice graphic EQs, and these work better, but still, they cannot automatically set the gain, and as I have noticed, my preset has a subtle tendency to "warm" the sound, and even smooth some of the bass distortions that are present in some tracks. All this despite a very very simple code, and me having no experience with dsp

Some of you might not like the fact that the overall loudness of most tracks will be somewhat lowered, but this is because virtually all modern music is mastered so that bass is at the very maximum limit of the format. Therefore, as a person that loves music and has good ears, I am telling you that you cannot boost the bass because that would result in distortions. Instead, the bass must be brought to the maximum limit (0db) and the rest of the spectrum attenuated, to get the same effect. There simply is no other way. And despite playing with the different parameters for almost 6 months, I still cannot say it is perfect, there are some very rare instances when it will distort, but only for a split second, so the auto gain can catch up.

At the default settings (the slider in the middle), the effect is pretty subtle, making it suitable for good equipment. I have a good soundcard, coupled with an discrete amplifier, and Sennheiser HD215 headphones, and that is the setting at which I always listen to my music (I'm a little bit of a basshead :P ). Actually, I am so used to it that going back to no DSP, or a different one, makes me enjoy the music much less. But... there are all kinds of people out there, with all kinds of audio equipment, therefore I am very aware that my preset might be a big zero for some

I like this preset. I used the headphone enhancer,however, i placed a channel widener onto it.

I been trying to figure out how to improve your headphone enhancer since 2005 and i finally did it by applying the noise sharpening and some other thing... tell me how you like it.
I too don't know how to do this.. but I just started learning from breaking down codes and trying to rewrite them into this one.

It's called verion 1.71b
Whats new:
*signal is fully applied.
*Channels range from Single-->Quad.
*An attemp to apply noise sharpening as a harmonic device.
*Error: noise shaping did help only at 0.5(1/2) so I only commented it at the bottom.

Sorry about the double post yesterday. :'(
But here's the update.
What's new:
* Added a silence comperessor
--- only tested with MP3, MP4, AAC, M4A, MP2... etc...
-- Slider3 (silence) works on those 5 for sure, others will just stay in one spot and won't skip.
- minor things (fixed)

I was wondering is there a way to create ambience in this sps form. The reason is that all I've seen are ways to make it echo, however, none of them work right without clicking or small little pops in the audio...

I would appreciate if someone could help me out with that.
If possible, could it be trigged? That way it would make the Semi-quad sound much better.

**maybe all four triggs could be used for different room sizes. :P

--all of these settings so far have been tested on those GUMMY earplugs. (|T_T|) -they're pretty cheap

I've added some code to bodisan's mega bass.

[What's New]
*Added: Silence Dectector & Skipper[#].
*Improvement: Channel Widener w/ volume control.
*Improvement: Noise Sharpening (increases fidelity).

[#] two silence skippers are composed in this, one is more specific than the other one... mp3 audio type files mainly.

Its awesome!
Just like Sony MEGABASS or something!
The megabass spoiled me so much that my laptop's audio sounded very tinny!

One more benefit is that it recuded the volume for me! ( i have tooo sensitive ears)

working on something... well just trying to figure out the stereo widener thing better... and might change stuff around again and remove other things...

might put up the one that i use all the time... much different then all the others... very simple in fact, another one based off bodisans megabass...
